AI Agentic Tools for SMEs
What is actually available today, and what it costs · weighted to Malaysia and Southeast Asia
Compiled August 2026. Covers marketing and content, sales and customer service, finance and administration, and operations automation.
This document separates tools that are genuinely agentic, meaning they plan, take multi-step actions and self-correct without needing approval at every step, from tools that are AI-assisted but still wait for a human to press the button. That distinction matters commercially, because a great many products are marketed as AI agents when they are really a scheduler or a form-filler with a language model attached. Both kinds are useful; they just should not cost the same.
Prices shown are entry-tier and were gathered from vendor pages and independent reviews during research. Pricing in this category moves quickly and several vendors changed their model during 2026, so anything flagged for verification should be confirmed directly before you commit budget. Where sources disagreed, that is noted rather than papered over.
Three things worth knowing before you spend anything
The platforms themselves became the agents. Meta Advantage+ and TikTok Smart+ and GMV Max now handle targeting, bidding, placement and creative rotation autonomously, and they are free. For a Malaysian SME selling on Facebook, TikTok and Shopee, the highest-return agentic AI available costs RM0. Third-party tools are best understood as creative supply lines feeding those free platform agents rather than replacements for them, which means budget should go toward producing more creative, not toward campaign-management software.
WhatsApp economics are changing right now, and this affects every tool in section 2. Meta moved to token-based pricing for its Business Agent from 1 August 2026, at USD 2.00 per million tokens, working out around four to five cents a message. Then from 1 October 2026 two separate things happen: standard service messages become chargeable again after being free since November 2024, and utility templates lose their free status inside the 24-hour customer service window. That second change hits every WhatsApp Business API account, not only those using Business Agent. Nearly every vendor below priced its plans around the old free service window, and every platform fee listed sits on top of Meta's fees.
Bahasa Malaysia performance is the single biggest unverified gap. No independent benchmark exists for any tool in this document. They all run on GPT-class models so raw BM will be broadly similar; the real differentiator is rojak code-switching, where a customer mixes BM, English, Mandarin and Tamil in one message, along with Malay-language knowledge retrieval. At least one Malaysian source reports the entry tiers of Manychat and Tidio struggling here. Test with your own real customer messages during the trial rather than trusting any vendor claim.
1. Marketing and content
Treated first and at greatest length, since this was your priority. The order below is deliberate: begin with the free platform-native agents, which most SMEs badly underuse, and add paid tools only where they produce something that free layer cannot.
1a. Free platform-native agents: start here
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok Symphony | Generates video ads from one product photo plus a prompt; AI avatars, storyboards, hooks. Paired with Smart+ or GMV Max, the campaign side, targeting, bidding, creative rotation, runs autonomously. Agentic: Yes on campaign management; creative generation is assisted. | Free. Needs a TikTok Ads Manager account with a payment method. No live campaign required. | Highest of any tool here. Voiceover in 30+ languages, AI dubbing with lip-sync in 15+. Native TikTok Shop integration. | Any SME selling physical product, F&B, fashion, beauty, home goods. Essential for TikTok Shop sellers. |
| Meta Advantage+ | Automates audience expansion, placements and budget allocation; the Andromeda layer decides which ads to show whom. Generative suite adds image-to-video, AI music and dubbing. Agentic: Yes, on campaign delivery. Now on by default for new campaigns. | Free. Bundled into ad spend, no software fee. | Very high. Facebook remains the backbone of SME marketing outside Klang Valley. AI dubbing covers regional languages. | Any SME already running Meta ads. The tactic shifts: fewer campaigns, broader targeting, compete on creative volume. |
| Shopee AI tools | AI Listing Generator writes titles, descriptions and category attributes from a product photo. Product AI Optimiser audits cover images and tags. ChatGPT Go embedded in Seller Centre since Jan 2026. Agentic: No, assisted generation only. | Free. All registered sellers, no premium tier. | Maximum, live in MY, SG, PH, ID and TH. Lazada has a comparable built-in Listing AI. | Every Shopee and Lazada seller. Note Shopee replaced keyword stuffing with intent matching, so old keyword-dense titles now underperform. |
1b. Content and video generation
This is where paid spend earns its keep. The binding constraint for most SMEs is creative volume rather than campaign management, Meta's own data suggests brands testing 20 or more new ads monthly materially outperform those testing fewer than 10, and TikTok creative fatigues in 7 to 10 days, two to three times faster than Meta.
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pippit AI | A product URL or photo becomes a finished short-form video ad: AI avatars, multilingual voiceover, auto-publishing, scheduling and performance analytics in one chain. Agentic: Closest to genuinely agentic at this price, generation through to publishing without handoff. | ~USD 24/mo annual, USD 36.25 monthly. Free tier 150 credits/week. Sources vary, verify. | Very high. Same parent company as TikTok and CapCut; TikTok Shop integration is first-class. | Marketplace and TikTok Shop sellers needing daily video volume without hiring a videographer. |
| OpusClip | Turns one long video, livestream, webinar, podcast, into 10 to 30 short clips, scored for virality, auto-captioned, reframed to 9:16 and auto-posted. Agentic: Semi, at Pro it selects, edits, captions and publishes on its own. | USD 15/mo Starter. Pro USD 29/mo adds auto-posting and 1080p. Credits are counted as minutes of source video. | High and underrated. Live-selling is enormous in MY and ID, this turns a two-hour livestream into a week of Reels and Shorts. | Anyone already doing livestream selling, webinars or long-form content. The highest-leverage under-used tactic found in this research. |
| Canva (Magic Studio) | Design plus AI: Magic Design, text-to-image, Magic Write, brand kits and social scheduling. Agentic: No, a design tool with strong AI features. | USD 15/mo Pro. Around RM68/mo. No MYR pricing; billed USD plus 6% SST. Teams USD 10/seat, three-seat minimum. | Very high adoption already, with Bahasa Malaysia templates. Most SMEs already own it. | Effectively universal. Warning: Canva Pro listings on Shopee at RM4–25 are resold shared accounts, not real subscriptions. |
| HeyGen | AI avatar video plus one-click video translation with lip-sync across 175+ languages. Custom avatar cloning. Agentic: No, assisted generation. | USD 24/mo annual, USD 29 monthly. Credit allowances changed mid-2026 and sources conflict. | Strong. Shoot one video, ship it in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. | Multilingual SMEs, training and education businesses, professional services producing explainers. |
| Creatify | A product URL becomes a UGC-style avatar video ad. 300+ actors, 200+ templates, 75+ languages. Higher tiers add an AI media buyer and an ad launcher. Agentic: Not at entry tiers; the Pro media buyer moves toward it. | USD 33–39/mo. Watch the credits: one 15-second video can burn 48–89. Realistic Starter output may be only ~5 videos a month. | Good on language breadth. No SEA commerce integration. | DTC e-commerce running Meta and TikTok ads that needs UGC-style volume without hiring creators. |
1c. Social media management and scheduling
Worth being clear-eyed here: almost nothing in this sub-category is truly agentic. These are schedulers with AI drafting attached. That is perfectly fine and they save real time, but do not pay agent prices for them.
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buffer | Scheduling and publishing across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn, with AI captions and optimised posting times. Agentic: No, a scheduler with an AI layer. | Free. Three channels with unlimited AI captions on the free tier. Essentials USD 5 per channel per month. | Neutral, works fine, no SEA localisation, USD pricing. | Solo operators and micro-SMEs with three channels or fewer. Best free tier in the category, but no AI image generation at all. |
| SocialBee | The AI Copilot reads your website and then builds a whole strategy, platforms, content categories, schedule and draft posts. Evergreen recycling by category. Agentic: Meaningfully so on strategy; assisted on execution. | USD 29/mo Bootstrap. Copilot is included at every paid tier, not an add-on. No free plan; 14-day trial. | Neutral, USD pricing. | SMEs with a content backlog to recycle, or who want the tool to set strategy rather than just execute. Good for B2B and professional practices. |
| Metricool | Scheduling, analytics and competitor tracking, priced per brand rather than per user or per channel. Agentic: No, AI captions on a credit system. | Free / ~USD 25/mo. X accounts now cost USD 10/mo extra each. Advanced analytics is a separate upgrade. | Neutral. No localisation. | SMEs running several brands or outlets, a restaurant group, say, or small agencies serving a handful of SME clients. |
| Predis.ai | Turns a product name or topic into a complete post: image, carousel or short video plus caption and hashtags. Competitor analysis and auto-posting included. Agentic: Semi, autonomous posting only from the Rise tier upward. | ~USD 32/mo. Sources conflict badly on tier names and figures. Verify directly before buying. | Good. Several Malaysian sources cite working Bahasa Malaysia generation. | Retail, F&B and e-commerce posting daily promotions with minimal creative input, effectively an on-demand copywriter. |
1d. SEO and email
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brevo | Email, SMS, WhatsApp and chat in one platform. Prices by emails sent rather than contacts held, the inverse of Mailchimp. Agentic: Mostly no. AI segmentation sits on a USD 499/mo tier, well out of SME range. | Free forever. 300 emails a day, unlimited contacts. Starter USD 9/mo. Removing branding costs USD 10/mo extra. | Notably strong, native WhatsApp channel support, which matters a great deal in Malaysia. | Any Malaysian SME with a large list emailed infrequently. Send-based pricing suits the big-list, occasional-blast pattern. |
| SEObot | Enter a URL and it researches the site, maps keywords, builds a plan, writes articles weekly, handles internal linking and publishes. Native WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost. Agentic: The most autonomous tool in this document, no human in the loop by default. | USD 49/mo. | Low. English-first, with no evidence of Bahasa Malaysia quality. | Solo founders and B2B service SMEs with no SEO experience who need consistent publishing. Reception is polarised, think consistency over quality. |
| Frase | SERP research, content briefs and optimisation scoring, plus generative-engine-optimisation scoring and AI visibility tracking bundled rather than sold as add-ons. Agentic: No, a workflow tool. You still write and publish. | USD 45–49/mo. Surfer SEO is comparable but charges extra for AI visibility. Clearscope starts at USD 129. | Low. English-centric. | B2B services, professional practices and content-led SMEs that already have a writer. |
Marketing tools I would steer a Malaysian SME away from
| Tool | Why to avoid |
|---|---|
| Jasper | Pro is USD 59 a month, but the actual Marketing Agents suite is gated behind a Business tier estimated at USD 900 a month and up. The agentic value proposition is simply not reachable at SME prices. |
| Semrush | Pro at USD 139.95 a month plus an AI Visibility Toolkit at USD 99 per domain lands near USD 240 a month, with extra seats at USD 99 each. Far above SME budget for what it returns. |
| AdCreative.ai | Around USD 29 a month, but video features sit behind a USD 249 tier, and its static-image focus is a poor match for a video-first SEA market. Rank it below Pippit and Creatify. |
| Vista Social | Professional starts at USD 79 a month and unlimited AI only unlocks at USD 149. Poor value against SocialBee at USD 29. |
| Mailchimp | Its Intuit Assist AI is still in beta, English-only, and restricted to the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Not available in Malaysia, and Brevo is the better answer regardless. |
| Klaviyo | Its Composer agent is genuinely strong, but the agents are metered add-ons at around USD 157 a month on top of profile-based billing that counts all active profiles. Over-specified for most Malaysian SMEs. |
2. Sales and customer service
For Malaysia the centre of gravity is WhatsApp, so that comes first. One sobering data point to hold onto: an industry comparison found that between 50 and 70 percent of teams churn off their AI sales development rep within a year, and only 22 percent have fully replaced human sales development. On deflection, Gartner's industry average is 20 to 30 percent with best-in-class at 40 to 60, not the 65 percent and up that vendors advertise. Budget against the lower figures.
2a. WhatsApp-first engagement: the highest-relevance category for Malaysia
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| respond.io | AI agents train on your site and documents, answer questions, and take CRM actions, updating lifecycle stages, applying tags, triggering workflows and handing off to humans. Agentic: Yes, within its lane. | USD 159/mo Growth. Starter at USD 79 does not include AI agents or workflows, so Growth is the real entry point. Meta fees are separate. | The strongest Malaysia fit anywhere in this document, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, raised USD 62.5m in June 2026. 24/5 multilingual support. | B2C SMEs that sell through messaging, retail, services, education, property, clinics. |
| SleekFlow | AgentFlow runs several agents at once, one qualifies leads while another answers product questions. In-chat payment links, flow builder, multilingual replies. Agentic: Yes, multi-agent. | ~USD 149/mo Pro AI. Sources conflict badly, quoting 79, 149, 199 and 399. Get a direct quote. WhatsApp numbers are billed separately. | Best regional footprint, Singapore HQ with offices in Malaysia and Indonesia. Explicitly APAC-oriented. | E-commerce and social commerce brands, APAC retail, and anything that closes the sale inside the chat. |
| Qiscus | An LLM agent built specifically for Southeast Asian business contexts. Trains on your knowledge base rather than pre-mapped conversation trees. Unifies WhatsApp plus 20 other channels. Agentic: Yes. | Quote only. Published pricing applies to Indonesian numbers within Indonesia. Malaysia requires contacting their team. | Official Meta Business Partner, Indonesian origin, actively marketing into Malaysia. Likely the best Bahasa positioning, though no benchmark exists. | Malaysian and Indonesian SMEs with high message volume; e-commerce. |
| Wati | Two products often conflated: a drag-and-drop rule-based chatbot on all tiers, and a GPT-4 based AI Support Agent available only on Pro and Business. Agentic: Only on the upper tiers. | From USD 59/mo. Pro around USD 149, Business around USD 279. Add-ons stack, and there is a reported ~20% undisclosed markup on Meta API fees. | Widely used across Asia, India- and SEA-oriented. No Malaysia-specific pricing found. | E-commerce, especially Shopify and D2C retail. Per-user pricing makes it less economical for very small teams. |
| Manychat | The AI Step adds a single AI response inside a flow, the AI answers one question, then control returns to buttons and branches. Agentic: No. This is flow automation with an LLM sprinkle. Good at what it does, but do not buy it as an agent. | USD 17/mo Essential. No AI on Essential; Pro is USD 39/mo. Sources conflict on whether AI is bundled or a USD 29 add-on. | Global. A Malaysian source reports entry tiers struggling with rojak code-mixing across BM, English, Mandarin and Tamil. | Instagram- and Facebook-led micro-businesses, creators, and very small e-commerce on tight budgets. |
2b. Customer service agents and ticket deflection
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fin (was Intercom) | Resolves tickets autonomously, executes multi-step procedures, and both disqualifies and qualifies leads. Runs standalone on top of Zendesk or Salesforce, not only inside Intercom. Agentic: Yes, the strongest true agent in customer service. | USD 0.99 per outcome. Lead qualification USD 9.99. Standalone from USD 49/mo. Reopened conversations are refunded, but there are no spend caps. | Global, USD billing, multilingual via the underlying model. No BM-specific claims. | SaaS, B2B and digital services with a real knowledge base. Startups should check the Early Stage Program, 93% off plus a free year. Contract risk: Intercom renamed itself Fin in May 2026, and Salesforce signed an agreement in June 2026 to acquire it for around USD 3.6bn. The deal has not closed, completion is expected in Salesforce's FY Q4 2027, subject to approval. |
| HubSpot Breeze | Several agents: Customer Agent resolves support conversations, Prospecting Agent researches and recommends leads, Data Agent answers questions about your data. Agentic: Yes, genuinely task-completing. | USD 0.50 per resolution. Moved to outcome-based pricing on 14 April 2026, so you pay on completion. Leads around USD 1 each. Watch two things: a customer reply after 72 hours counts as a fresh resolution and bills again, and Professional or Enterprise tiers are required. | Global, multilingual. | B2B and services SMEs already on HubSpot. Set billing to pay-as-you-go overage rather than auto-upgrade, downgrades often wait for contract end. |
| Tidio (Lyro) | Lyro is a real support agent handling conversations across channels with escalation to humans. Less action-taking than Fin. Agentic: Yes, mid-capability. | USD 32.50/mo annual. Covers 50 conversations. Three separately metered sliders mean you can be within your chat allowance and still be pushed up a tier. | Global. Same rojak code-mixing caveat as Manychat at entry tiers. | Small e-commerce and D2C with moderate ticket volume. Realistic all-in budget is USD 150+/mo once add-ons stack. |
| Zendesk AI Agents | Autonomous agents included in every Support and Suite plan since May 2026, billed by automated resolution. Agentic: Yes. | USD 55/agent/mo Suite. The included allowance is thin at roughly 5 resolutions per agent per month. The overage rate is unpublished; third parties estimate USD 1.50–2.00, auto-billed with no cap. | Global with strong APAC presence, multilingual. | SMEs scaling past a simple shared inbox. Generally the most expensive per resolution in this table. |
| Freshdesk (Freddy) | Freddy AI Agent autonomously handles email and chat support sessions. Distinct from Freddy Copilot, which only assists human agents. Agentic: Yes, but read the pricing caveat first. | USD 49 per 100 sessions. Up from around USD 0.10 per session. Freshworks case studies put resolution at 23–30%, and you are billed per session whether resolved or not. | Strong APAC presence, widely sold in Malaysia, multilingual. | SMEs wanting a full helpdesk on predictable seat pricing, but do the session maths. Worst effective cost per resolved ticket here. |
2c. CRM and sales agents
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zoho CRM (Zia) | Zia spans assist, deflection and Zia Agents, the autonomous layer. Ask Zia, churn and field prediction and workflow suggestions are all mature. Agentic: Partly, the Zia Agents layer has been described as early access, so verify availability. | USD 14/user/mo Standard. Enterprise USD 40. Sources conflict on which tier unlocks AI. You cannot mix tiers on one account. | Excellent, deep Malaysia and SEA presence, regional pricing, local partners. Consistently recommended in Malaysian SME comparisons. | B2B and services SMEs, and price-sensitive teams wanting one suite rather than five subscriptions. |
| Jeeva AI | Autonomous lead discovery and enrichment, AI inbox and calendar sorting, reply drafting, pre-call briefs, and multichannel outreach on higher tiers. Agentic: Yes. | USD 16–39/mo. Sources conflict on the entry tier. Credit-based and billed annually. A free plan is available. | Global SaaS, USD billing. English B2B outbound only, no SEA features or BM support. | B2B SMEs doing outbound, solo founders and small sales teams. A smaller vendor, so factor in longevity risk. |
On AI sales development reps specifically
Headline pricing of USD 1,000 to 3,000 a month rarely includes data, email sending or domain warmup, and practitioner guidance is to budget one and a half to two times the advertised price. Most genuinely agentic AI SDRs land at USD 2,000 to 4,000 a month, which puts them out of range for the overwhelming majority of Malaysian SMEs. AiSDR starts around USD 900 and 11x sits at USD 5,000 to 10,000. Only Jeeva, at USD 16 to 39, is realistically affordable at SME scale.
A reasonable counter-argument from that same research: most small teams do not need a USD 2,000 a month AI SDR at all. They need a competent email tool and a data provider that will not damage their sending domain, for a fraction of the cost.
For done-for-you implementation in Malaysia rather than software you run yourself, XTOPIA (Malaysia-developed, Microsoft-certified, with Malaysia Digital status) and BixTech both surfaced repeatedly. One local vendor suggests that for SMEs handling 30 or more enquiries a day, a custom build from around RM1,000 pays back faster than juggling free tools. That is a vendor marketing claim and unverified, but the underlying logic holds.
3. Finance and administration
This section is shaped more by regulation than by technology, and the regulation has moved twice in the past year, so if you have read an older guide, check the dates below against it. Local tools carry native MyInvois API integration and SST built in, while Xero and QuickBooks reach compliance through connectors and partners. That is the central trade-off in this category.
Malaysian e-invoicing: the current position, which is not what most online guides still say
Phase 4 began on 1 January 2026 and covers businesses with RM1m to RM5m turnover. That part is stable.
The permanent exemption threshold was raised from RM500,000 to RM1,000,000 with effect from 1 January 2026. A great many guides still cite RM500k. The exemption is conditional, though: it does not apply if your business has a non-individual shareholder, a holding company, or a related company or joint-venture partner turning over RM1m or more.
Phase 5, which would have brought in RM150k to RM500k businesses on 1 July 2026, was cancelled by Cabinet decision on 6 December 2025. There is no general full-implementation date in July 2026. A 1 July 2026 date does survive for a narrow group, otherwise-exempt businesses that are subsidiaries or have the shareholder and related-party links described above, plus newly established businesses crossing RM1m.
Penalty enforcement is now 1 January 2028, not 2027. IRBM extended the Phase 4 penalty-free relaxation by a further twelve months in April 2026, so the relaxation runs to 31 December 2027. This date has been pushed back twice, which is why stale figures are so widespread.
Two details that catch people out regardless of relaxation: from 1 January 2026 any single transaction of RM10,000 or more requires its own individual e-invoice, and once your business is in scope it stays in scope even if turnover later falls below the threshold.
Sourcing note: this was confirmed against Specific Guideline v4.7 (published 20 April 2026) as reported by several independent tax and accounting sources, which agree with each other. It could not be checked against hasil.gov.my directly during research. Given the stakes, confirm against the LHDN portal or your tax agent before acting.
The honest finding
No Malaysian vendor currently offers genuinely agentic finance AI. The choice today is local compliance without intelligence, or intelligence with connector-based compliance. Xero with JAX is the closest thing to both.
3a. International tools with real agentic capability
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xero + JAX | JAX orchestrates sub-agents: it creates invoices, reconciles in real time, processes expense claims, forecasts when a customer will actually pay and chases on that prediction. Works in-product, by WhatsApp and by email. Agentic: Yes, the payment-prediction chasing is real autonomous behaviour. | USD 25/mo promo. Standard USD 50, Premium USD 75, with 50% off until 31 Dec 2026. JAX costs nothing extra. Unlimited users. | Strong. MyInvois compliance runs via the Invoici partnership rather than a native LHDN API, and the SST module is less localised than Financio or SQL. | Service SMEs, agencies and professional firms of 5 to 50 staff, already cloud-native and comfortable with USD billing. |
| QuickBooks + Intuit agents | Role-specific agents: Accounting Agent does the books and flags anomalies, Payroll Agent chases employees for timesheets, Finance Agent writes board-ready summaries. Agentic: Mixed, bank categorisation is assistive, but the Accounting and Payroll agents are meaningfully agentic. | MYR-priced, unverified. Agents cost nothing extra but are gated by tier. Finance Agent requires the Advanced plan and excludes multi-currency books. | Good, live LHDN-compliant e-invoicing via a Sovos partnership at no extra fee, with auto-submission and status monitoring in-dashboard. | Single-currency Malaysian SMEs wanting bundled e-invoicing. A poor fit for import/export or multi-currency businesses. |
| Dext | Receipt and invoice capture with line-item level extraction rather than just header totals. Submit by drag-and-drop, email, WhatsApp, mobile or Dropbox. Agentic: No, high-quality extraction inside a fixed pipeline. | ~USD 25/mo annual. At least one 2026 source says Dext has removed published pricing and moved to sales quotes. Verify. | Weak and unverified for Asia. A Malaysian comparison notes generic capture fails on BM food bills, handwritten invoices and petrol slips with split SST lines. | SMEs with mostly English digital supplier invoices. Poor for cash-and-paper retail or F&B. Under ~50 documents a month, Hubdoc is free with Xero. |
| Chaser | Autonomous receivables chasing: it ranks debtors, predicts who will pay late and picks the best day and time. Email from your own address, plus SMS and automated debtor phone calls. Agentic: Semi, AI decisioning with scheduled execution. | USD 40–259/mo. Sources conflict wildly, so treat this as quote territory. Paidnice at USD 69/mo flat is a cheaper alternative. | Available globally via Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, but with no Malaysia-specific features. Its credit-checking strength is UK and EU-centric. | B2B SMEs with 50+ open invoices and a real days-sales-outstanding problem. Xero users especially. |
| Aspire | Multi-currency business account, corporate cards, expense management and FX. Auto-categorises transactions, attaches receipts and runs approval workflows. Agentic: No, automation rather than autonomous reasoning. | SGD 0 Basic. First five spend users free, then SGD 4 each. Premium SGD 15/mo. Malaysia availability was not confirmed, verify. | Singapore-based, MAS-registered and SEA-native. Integrates Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite and Slack. | SEA SMEs and startups with cross-border spend. If spend control is the real problem look at Volopay; if Indonesia-heavy, Spenmo. |
3b. Malaysian local tools: compliance first
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bukku | Cloud accounting with the deepest free MyInvois tier in Malaysia: readiness checks, TIN and classification fields, one-click and bulk submission, consolidated and self-billed e-invoices, and 72-hour cancellation. Agentic: No, compliance automation. Choose it for economics, not intelligence. | RM 0 free tier. Paid tiers sit under RM100/mo. Exact per-tier figures are not published, verify at bukku.my. | Best in class. LHDN-certified, an authorised Peppol service provider, native MyInvois API, SST-ready out of the box. | Malaysian micro-SMEs and startups needing Phase 4 compliance, or exempt businesses that want to be ready before they cross the RM1m threshold, at near-zero cost. |
| Financio | Cloud accounting for micro-businesses. Connects to Maybank, UOB and RHB for transaction sync and supplier payments, files SST returns to Customs in a few clicks, and syncs Lazada pricing and inventory. Agentic: No. The site references A.I. but shows no verifiable agentic capability, treat as marketing. | RM 5/mo promo. First six months, with a 30-day trial. Standard post-promo pricing was not published. | Malaysia-native, LHDN-certified, native MyInvois, SST-ready. The local bank integrations are a genuine differentiator over Xero and QuickBooks. | Malaysian micro-businesses, freelancers and sole proprietors. The entry plan caps invoice counts and SST reporting. |
| SQL Account / AutoCount | The incumbents. SQL has 250,000+ companies and full MyInvois integration with real-time submission. AutoCount adds a plug-in architecture, batch TIN validation, and OneSales for Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop order sync. Agentic: No, traditional ERPs with compliance modules bolted on. | Perpetual licence. A one-time licence plus annual support rather than a subscription, and dealer-quoted. Cloud editions sit at the top of the Malaysian price range. | Native MyInvois API, SST out of the box, seven-year LHDN retention. The safest compliance choice available. | Inventory-heavy Malaysian SMEs, manufacturing, distribution, trading, marketplace sellers, and anyone with an existing dealer relationship. |
| Talenox / Kakitangan | Malaysian payroll with statutory rates built in, EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB, applied and updated automatically, foreign-worker EPF handled, bank files for Maybank, CIMB, Public Bank and RHB, and Borang EA and E included. Agentic: No, table-driven compliance automation, and rightly so. | RM 10/employee/mo. Talenox minimum RM60/mo with a 30-day trial. Kakitangan from RM50/mo for up to five staff. | Purpose-built for Malaysia. Alternatives include Swingvy, HReasily, BrioHR and Payboy. Deel only if hiring cross-border. | Malaysian SMEs from 5 to 200 staff. Note that no local payroll vendor offers genuine agentic AI yet, Intuit's Payroll Agent has no local equivalent. |
Excluded on availability grounds
| Tool | Why excluded |
|---|---|
| Digits | US-only at every layer, with no MyInvois, no SST and no MYR. Architecturally impressive, runs an autonomous general ledger, but not available in Malaysia. |
| Ramp | Covers the US and Europe only. Has consolidated hundreds of production agents that code and sync transactions continuously and can now execute autonomous corporate payments, but not available in Malaysia. |
4. Operations and general automation
This is where the clearest genuine agentic capability sits, and where an SME can build something specific to its own business rather than buying a vertical product off the shelf. The three big workflow platforms sit on a straightforward spectrum: Zapier is the easiest and most expensive, Make sits in the middle, and n8n is the cheapest and most technical.
| Tool | What it does · truly agentic? | Entry price | Malaysia / SEA fit | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| n8n | Workflow automation with first-class AI agent nodes, build agents that reason over tools, call APIs and loop. Self-hostable, which matters for financial data residency. Agentic: Yes, via its agent nodes. | EUR 20/mo Starter. Billed per workflow execution regardless of step count, so dramatically cheaper than Zapier for complex work. Community edition free and self-hostable. Under 20 staff qualifies for 50% off. | Fully available, EUR-billed. Self-hosting on a local VPS resolves data-residency concerns. | Best value for technically capable teams. Execution pricing plus the small-team discount plus self-hosting makes it the strongest cost fit here. Needs someone comfortable with logic and APIs. |
| Make | Visual scenario builder with Make AI Agents included on all paid plans, no separate agent SKU. Maia, its natural-language agentic builder, is included too. Agentic: Yes, and bundled rather than metered separately. | USD 9/mo Core. The cheapest entry of the three. Billing moved from operations to credits in late 2025, and extra credits carry a 25% premium. Free tier gives 1,000 credits a month. | Fully available, USD-billed. | Visual thinkers who want agents included. Sits between Zapier, the easiest and priciest, and n8n, the cheapest and most technical. |
| Zapier + Agents | 9,000+ integrations, the widest available. Zapier Agents take an outcome and decide which tools to call. Zapier MCP lets Claude or ChatGPT act across those 9,000 apps. Agentic: Yes, genuinely. | USD 19.99/mo + agents. Agents give 400 actions a month free, or USD 33/mo for Pro. Since 15 June 2026 AI steps bill at 1x, 3x or 5x by model tier and new steps default to 3x, with tool calls billed on top at the same multiplier. Bringing your own AI account is 1x. Costs escalate fast. | Fully available, USD-billed. No local compliance features. | Non-technical owners who value integration breadth over cost efficiency. The 3x AI default plus a separate agent fee is the trap to watch. |
| Zoho Zia Agent Studio | Build, deploy and manage custom agents across the Zoho suite. Prebuilt agents, a custom builder, MCP support and an agent marketplace. Agentic: Yes, within the Zoho ecosystem. | Platform free. You pay only for model usage: 30M free tokens a month, then USD 1 per 1M. Bring-your-own-key is supported. You still need an underlying Zoho subscription. | Strong SEA presence. Zoho Books MyInvois support comes via marketplace plugins rather than natively, verify before relying on it. | SMEs already on Zoho, or price-sensitive SMEs wanting one suite. The cheapest genuine agentic capability in this entire document. |
| Lindy | Repositioned during 2026 from agent builder to AI personal assistant: inbox, meetings, calendar, follow-ups, meeting recording and 24/7 texting. Agentic: Yes, but narrower in scope than its earlier positioning. | ~USD 50/mo. Lindy no longer publishes per-tier figures or credit counts, and usage is expressed as multipliers. Verify directly. | Available, USD-billed. No local compliance features. | Founders and executives wanting an inbox and calendar assistant rather than a workflow platform. Poor fit if you need finance-system integration. |
| Gumloop | A no-code, AI-native workflow and agent builder, credit-based with unlimited seats on all paid plans. Agentic: Yes. | USD 37/mo Pro. Repackaged during 2026 and sources conflict. The permanent free tier appears removed as of July 2026, and Pro defaults to unlimited overage, a budget risk. | Available, USD-billed. | Small teams wanting agents without per-seat costs. Unlimited seats is the real differentiator over Zapier and Make. |
| Notion + Notion Agent | An internal knowledge assistant. Notion Agent executes multi-step tasks inside the workspace, AI Meeting Notes auto-capture from the calendar, and enterprise search spans connected apps. Agentic: Yes for standard agents. | USD 20/member/mo. Business is the minimum tier for Agent and Meeting Notes. Since May 2026 custom agents are metered separately at USD 10 per 1,000 credits on top of seats. | Available, USD-billed. | Knowledge-work SMEs of 5 to 30 people, agencies, consultancies, software teams. A ten-person team is USD 200/mo. Poor fit for field or operations-heavy businesses. |
| Fireflies / Fathom / Otter | Record, transcribe, summarise and extract action items from meetings. Fireflies is the most action-oriented, via CRM write-back. Agentic: Mostly no, transcription plus summarisation. | Free to USD 19/seat. Fathom has the most generous free tier. Fireflies Pro is USD 10/seat annual. Otter's free tier caps at 300 minutes a month. | All available. Fireflies supports 60+ languages, Fathom 38 and Otter works well in 3, decisive for BM, Mandarin and mixed-language meetings. | Fireflies for Malaysian multilingual meetings and CRM-driven sales, Fathom for solo founders minimising cost, Otter for live captioning. |
Do not sign up for Relay.app
Relay.app is shutting down, 15 August 2026 for free users and 14 September 2026 for paying customers. New signups and upgrades are already disabled, and annual subscribers are receiving prorated refunds. It still appears in a great many best-AI-agent-builder listicles for 2026, so it will almost certainly surface if you research this independently. It is no longer a valid option.
5. Suggested starting stacks
These are a synthesis rather than a recommendation lifted from any single source, and they assume you are starting from close to nothing. The consistent pattern is that the free platform-native layer does most of the heavy lifting, with paid tools added narrowly where they solve a specific bottleneck.
| Business type | Suggested stack | Rough monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Warung or single-outlet F&B | Canva Pro, Buffer free, TikTok Symphony free and Shopee AI free, with Bukku's free tier covering e-invoicing. | ~RM 70 / month |
| Marketplace seller (TikTok Shop, Shopee) | Pippit Starter, Metricool free, TikTok Symphony and GMV Max free, Shopee AI free and Brevo Starter. Add Bukku or Financio for compliance. | ~USD 35–50 / month |
| Live-selling e-commerce | OpusClip Pro, Pippit, Brevo Starter and the free platform agents. The livestream-to-clips play is the highest-leverage tactic found in this research. | ~USD 60–75 / month |
| B2C services with heavy WhatsApp enquiries | respond.io Growth for the AI agents, Canva Pro, Brevo free and Talenox for payroll. Trial the AI on real rojak customer messages before committing. | ~USD 180 / month |
| B2B services or professional practice | SocialBee Bootstrap, Frase, Canva Pro, Brevo free and Zoho CRM Standard. Add HeyGen if multilingual video matters. | ~USD 105–135 / month |
| Inventory-heavy trading or distribution | SQL Account or AutoCount for compliance and stock, Talenox for payroll, n8n self-hosted for ops automation, and Fireflies for meetings. | Under RM 500 / month plus licence |
Malaysian funding and tax offsets worth checking
The MSME Digital Grant MADANI provides a 50 percent matching grant of up to RM5,000 for approved digital tools, including AI-enabled CRM, chatbots, e-invoicing and accounting software. It is administered by BSN, claimed through an MDEC-registered technology solution provider, and works on reimbursement.
Budget 2026 allocated RM150m to SME digitalisation grants and RM53m to the Malaysia Digital Acceleration Grant for AI adoption. There is also a 50 percent additional tax deduction for certified AI training, and HRD Corp SBL-KHAS claims can cover up to 100 percent of approved AI and automation training costs.
Separately, e-invoicing implementation carries a special tax deduction of up to RM50,000 per year of assessment, running from YA2024 to YA2027.
On a point of confusion worth clearing up: MSME Digital Grant MADANI was not superseded by MDAG. They are separate programmes. MADANI is the BSN-channelled general digitalisation grant capped at RM5,000; MDAG is MDEC-run, deep-tech focused, and funds up to 70 percent or RM5m. Some technology-provider marketing pages blur the two.
What could not be confirmed is whether a 2026 application round is currently open. The 2025 round closed on 5 September 2025 and Budget 2026 did not name MADANI specifically. Check with BSN or MDEC before building it into a plan. Two eligibility points to note: prior Digitalisation Matching Grant recipients are excluded except for AI and e-invoice solutions, and starting work before you have written approval disqualifies the claim.
6. How much to trust these figures
Being straight with you about research quality, because it varies a great deal from tool to tool.
Independently fact-checked
Seven claims in this document were high-stakes enough, meaning getting them wrong would cost you money, a compliance deadline, or a signup to a dead product, that they were verified a second time against separate sources. Confirmed as stated: the Relay.app shutdown dates, the HubSpot Breeze move to outcome pricing on 14 April 2026 at USD 0.50 per resolution, the Zapier AI multiplier change on 15 June 2026, and the mechanics of the MSME Digital Grant MADANI.
Corrected after checking: the Salesforce and Fin deal is signed but not closed, the WhatsApp October change is two distinct changes rather than one, and, most significantly, the Malaysian e-invoicing section. Three of the four figures originally gathered there were a year out of date, including the exemption threshold and the enforcement deadline. Those are now corrected in section 3. It is worth knowing that a great many currently-live Malaysian guides still carry the old numbers.
Well verified
| Category | Tools |
|---|---|
| Well verified | Buffer, SocialBee, OpusClip, Brevo, Metricool, n8n, Zapier, Make, Notion, Talenox, Kakitangan, Aspire, Zoho Zia Agents, Xero Malaysia pricing, HubSpot Breeze, Tidio, and the free status of TikTok Symphony and Shopee AI. These came either from vendor pages directly or were corroborated across several independent sources. |
Sources conflict, so verify before buying
| Tool | Note |
|---|---|
| SleekFlow | Quoted anywhere from USD 79 to 399 |
| Predis.ai | Inconsistent tier names and figures |
| Creatify | Pro at either USD 49 or 99 |
| Pippit | Sources vary |
| HeyGen | Credit allowances changed mid-2026 |
| Digits | Three incompatible tier structures |
| Chaser | USD 40 versus 259 |
| Gumloop | Repackaged mid-2026 with the free tier possibly removed |
| Lindy | No longer publishes per-tier figures |
| Dext | May have moved to quote-only |
| Manychat | Whether AI is bundled or a USD 29 add-on |
Not verifiable at all
QuickBooks Malaysia MYR tiers, Bukku per-tier RM figures, Financio post-promo pricing, SQL and AutoCount licence costs (all dealer-quoted), Qiscus pricing for Malaysia (genuinely unpublished), Zendesk per-resolution overage (unpublished, so all figures are third-party inference), which Zoho tier unlocks AI agents, Canva's 2026 AI credit allocations, and any Bahasa Malaysia quality benchmark for any tool at all.
Treat with real scepticism
Every vendor-quoted return-on-ad-spend uplift figure, the widely repeated claim that 81 percent of Malaysian SMEs have tried AI while only 32 percent use it for marketing (a single vendor blog, uncorroborated), and Shopee's mid-2026 agentic roadmap. Note too that a large share of the most detailed pricing teardowns online are written by competing vendors. Their tier structures are usually accurate, but their rankings and their hidden-cost framing is promotional.
Local and regional vendors worth a direct enquiry
| Vendor | Notes |
|---|---|
| Mesolitica | Malaysia, Bahasa Melayu and dialect models, though infrastructure rather than a finished SME product |
| ForwardChat | Malaysia, WhatsApp automation priced in RM |
| AnyLive | Automated off-peak livestreams in Bahasa Malaysia |
| Halosis | Indonesia, conversational commerce |
| BigSeller | Shopee and Lazada bulk operations |
| Shopdora | Shopee keyword and competitor data |
One last practical note on cost. Almost every international tool here bills in USD with no MYR localisation, and Malaysian buyers pay 6 percent SST on top. Once foreign exchange spread is included, expect a real premium of roughly 10 to 15 percent over the headline figures in this document.
